January 26, 2015

Ok, yes I did get moved again. I am in Hope, AR now. Hope is the Birthplace of President William “Bill” Clinton. We are 50 miles away from the nearest missionaries.

The branch building could fit inside our house... there is about 30 active people but it has a cool story. The stake president was going to close the branch but had a dream and heard a voice that said "what about my people in Hope" so we have 8 months to get the branch to shape to hold itself.

I am with Elder Tucker who is from Idaho Elder Tucker has been out for about 6 months. We are hoping for some miracles here. The area really has a lot of potential. I don't have any food (that is what happens when you get moved at the end of the month... twice.)

We are going to make some stuff happen here in Hope. We are going into bike week and for the most part it looks like good weather so we want to try and find some leadership for the branch that we can baptize.

I am praying for y’all

January 19, 2015

So I am back in Jonesboro, to explain.... Elder Meza and Elder Salazar can't drive but they got put together at transfers because Pres. did not know this. When they found out these two Elders had been put together and neither of them could drive they had to make a last minute change. I was walking outside and one of the APs walked up to me and asked me to come with him and I go into Presidents office. President asked me if I would be willing to go to Jonesboro with Elder Meza in order to solve the driving problem... I holding in my happiness said yes then ran and told Elder Jardine (who I served in Jonesboro with) Jardine half wanted to punch me and half was happy for me. He really wants to come back to Jonesboro. Elder Meza and I are both Spanish Elders but they have a set of Spanish Elders serving in Jonesboro already so we have been put over the English area, but we can teach Spanish Still... (I would not give up Spanish). It is nice to be back. There is a lot of work to do. Elder Meza is from LA but his parents are from Guatemala. We have done a lot of walking and a lot of finding. You asked about my investigators... well we are working on that. I love y’all and hope you are all doing well.

January 12, 2015

So I am getting transferred. I have no clue where. I am hearing that I could be going back to Memphis, but it is likely that where I go will be my last area. But If we are going with my luck I will still get one more because I can only stay in a place for 12 weeks at max.
Bruno is well. I have been talking with the Sisters and he is going to get baptized soon. I guess we will see what happens but he is really cool and very ready.
Sad story this week, I was asked to go to a house of a friend to see how he was doing. He was drunk... Just seeing how a person is when they have taken in the amount of alcohol he did was sad... we had to take anything that could potentially be dangerous from the house so that he could not hurt himself or others. It was truly a testimony of the Word of Wisdom #proverbs20:1 I will never drink (not that I was planning to in the first place)

No church this week... (This was really sad when we had a family who was planning on coming to church). We gave a book of Mormon to a girl that we are teaching 2 weeks ago, she has already finished Jacob and is texting us a bunch of questions. That is pretty darn exciting. It is nice to know that I will be leaving the Russellville area better than when I came.

January 5, 2015

So cold week for us we walked two of our drive days this week because we gave the Truck to the sisters but we were able to find a good amount of new people. Now we just need to get some that will progress to baptism.

The cool experience of this week was when we did a blitz of Danville. We went with the other Elders and Elder Williams one of the English Elders and I took the city of Havana. We were knocking some doors and found a guy who told us he had some friends down the road that would maybe be interested in a message.... we knocked on the door of the wrong house but the guy that came to the door (Bruno) is the son of a member who just passed away and is wanting to get baptized. We gave him over to the sisters (that are over the Danville area) and he came to church this last week in Danville. It is nice to hear that the Danville branch is progressing. Danville was the hardest part of my mission but I feel that it was also a part of my mission that caused me to grow and progress.

So we have some really cool people we are teaching named “S” and “A”. We gave them a book of Mormon and they are reading and taking notes on it. They really want to know the truth. the hard part is that we can't get out to them because they live in another city and right now we don't have a car.... but once we do we will be able to go out to teach them in person.

Love y’all
Kevin

Dec. 29, 2014

Well, I am still sick.
The day after Christmas I woke up and could hardly breathe. I tried the vapor rub stuff that they have at Walmart and it really has not helped much... maybe it will be better for when I am sore. Christmas was good. We did not really have a lot of success that night most people really did not want to talk but the day before was better.

Me and Elder Dyorich parked on the side of the road and went to a lesson when we came back we got in the car and this guy comes to our window and said that he hit our truck and that it was our fault because we parked illegally. He demanded that we pay for the broken tail light that he had from hitting us. We apologized and said how it we could not do anything about it... so he called the cops on us. The Cop a show up... tells us that we were perfectly fine and that we were parked legally, and then had us fill out papers and an accident report. The truck we drive was hardly dented. But it was a weird night.

Hope everyone has a great new year.
